 Title: Fire Dancer
Doll Artist: Doey Cummings   Profile / Another 2003 Doll / Articles / Webpage

 Medium: Cloth over armature
Description: The challenge of this design was twofold, first , how to make a stand approximating fire for her to leap over and second, how to disguise it so she will look like she is suspended in air.

Inspirations: The FIREDANCER was inspired by the cover of a 'Harpers Bazaar' magazine by one of the designers of the era.
 Herstory: ...
The Critics: The movement in this doll is wonderful! The way the ribbon floats in the wind…the photography here is excellent – she looks for all the world as though she is floating free (look Ma, no hands) and yet the detail of the whole doll is there to be seen.
One could almost believe it was porcelain. The joining of the arms onto the back torso is unusual but is in keeping with the stylised arms and legs.
The magenta scarf against the red hair gives the doll extra spark…I loved it.
Not a “fashion doll” perhaps – but certainly an “art doll”!Great work , Doey .
